Laura Swift
Laura Swift - BA(Hons) in Musical Theatre & MA in Professional Acting.
Laura was born into a musical family and grew up watching her mum teach violin, guitar, piano, keyboard and singing from a very young age. She started learning the piano from the age of 5 and then along the way, she then picked up the flute, saxophone and discovered her true passion for singing & performing on stage. Within her family, Laura her mum and her sister are all peripatetic music & drama teachers and she is very honoured to share her joy for performing, and educating others with the people closest to her.
Laura went to university to complete a BA(hons) in Musical theatre and, after this, continued her studies further by going to one of the UKs top accredited drama schools to complete a MA in Professional Acting. During her studies, she arranged multiple events & concerts, as well as being part of choirs and bands. She also taught Musical Theatre to children aged 3 - 21 and now, 10 years later, that age bracket has expanded somewhat!
Alongside her teaching, Laura is also a member of TOPS Musical Productions and regularly performs principal roles in well-known musicals at The Princess Theatre in Torquay. She has also recently joined several other drama and musical theatre groups in the local area.
What Laura loves the most about teaching music, is watching her students confidence grow as well as them having the opportunity to be creative and communicate in an explorative way. Laura is passionate about creating a supportive and safe atmosphere where students can express themselves, not only learning a new skill but also enhancing their wellbeing in a positive environment.
